New year, New blog

So this is my first blog and it's a New Year. Resolutions? I have none. Goals? I have a few. Those of you that know me know that I have been involved in a couple benefits. I have a seasonal job right now, but am otherwise retired for the time being. So I like to use my free time to help out people in need. With this said, I am already working on my first project for 2011 and I feel real good about it. Along with a team of 5 other people I am going to take on one of the toughest 10 mile obstacle courses. It is called "Tough Mudder". At the bottom of this blog will be links to follow to check this out. So, I will be spending the next two months trying to build upper body and core strength and increase my endurance. This is going to be a huge challenge. So, why am doing this you ask? Why am I taking on 19 obstacles that involve cold water, mud, smoke granades, barbed wire, live wire, fire, etc etc.??? I am doing it for the "Wounded Warrior Project".

From www.woundedwarrioproject.org:

"Over 40,000 service members have been injured in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is further estimated that over 300,000 suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression. By listening to and surveying the warrior population, WWP has worked diligently to respond to PTSD and other injuries of this conflict like traumatic brain injury (TBI). Through innovative programs, services, and now technology, WWP in further connecting and finding resources for this generation of warriors. Fully engaging injured service members in the virtual world has been a key part of this strategy."

Together with the owners of The Beackstage Beat and a few others, we will take this bitch on and our goal is to raise $5000 for the Wounded Warriors. We are asking everyone to chip in at least a $1. Every dollar DOES count. We have A LOT of friends :)
